Adoption Center of Illinois

Family Resource Center began in the mid ‘80s with a group of people whose lives were touched by adoption. Men and women who had placed children for adoption, adult adoptees, adoptive parents, and community members interested in the field of adoption, all helped to shape FRC. Together they shared a common interest in an approach to adoption that differed from the current practices. Embracing the belief that people are capable of making informed decisions for themselves. Above all, those who are considering adoption have the right to take an active role in choosing the family that would adopt their child. They set out to create a new kind of agency. Subsequently, FRC was founded in the summer of 1988. We opened our first office in the Uptown Bank Building in Chicago and started providing adoption services throughout Illinois.

We strive to create an oasis of understanding and provide a safe environment that engenders trust. FRC has built a reputation for being welcoming, responsive and accessible. As a result, our volunteer board of directors continues to include birth parents, adoptive parents and people whose lives have been touched by adoption.
